A fusion of street art, the Victorian period and the grit of Manchester

Situated in the heart of Manchester’s Northern Quarter the aparthotel features suites with bold, rich interiors influenced by bohemian street art, Victorain heritage and its role in the history of the Industrial Revolution.

Manchester’s most characterful, independent district is a woven network of red brick garment warehouses, gently faded facades and a tangle of hidden gems that has become one of Manchester’s greatest assets. The client asked us to create interiors that took inspiration from the locality that stayed true to their brand’s renowned blend of of luxury and comfort with a twist and a place that feels like home.

The Northern Quarter

The concept weaves together the stories of the Northern Quarter’s historical legacies, its dynamic urban landscape and its laid-back bohemian character. The concept draws upon the historic cotton weaving industry, the grandeur of forgotten Victorian architecture and the energy of the street to create a vibrant, eclectic interior that mirrors the unique spirit of the location

Street Art with an Edge

The use of vibrant imagery within the design scheme defines a meaningful and authentic sense of place within the city and highlights the fact that Manchester has gained global status with regard to its art culture.

Cottonopolis

The design concept celebrates the craft of cotton weaving that was predominent within the Northern Quarter. Versatile woven patterns, intricate textile design and tactile fabrics reflect the historic heritage of the wealth and power of a city where cotton was once King.

An Illustrious Past

Ornate, voluminous Victorian architectural details dominate the Northern Quarter’s ever evolving townscape. Some have either been lost, shaped or re-shaped by the demands of modern life, industry and commerce. By creating a visual contrast between decorative Victorian refinement and delapidated urban decay the interior captures the very soul of a particularly vibrant and culturally distinctive quarter of the city.

A renowned blend of of luxury and comfort with a twist and a place that feels like home.
