A sanctuary on the Ayung River
Set along the banks of the sacred Ayung River near Ubud, Fivelements Bali Retreat is a holistic wellness destination deeply connected to its natural surroundings. Conceived as a peaceful sanctuary, the retreat brings together accommodation, dining and dedicated wellness facilities including yoga, healing and treatment spaces, all immersed within lush tropical gardens.
Designed with nature
The design celebrates Bali’s natural environment through organic forms, open spaces and a rich palette of bamboo, timber, stone and traditional thatch. The sculptural bamboo restaurant and large openings within the suites create a seamless transition between inside and out, while open-air bathrooms, generous wooden decks and views into the surrounding landscape allow nature to become an integral part of the guest experience.
Rooted in Bali
Throughout the retreat, locally crafted furniture and soft furnishings complement the natural materials and traditional Balinese influences of the architecture. Warm, tactile and understated, the interiors have been carefully considered to enhance rather than compete with their setting, creating a relaxed environment where design, nature and wellbeing come together.
A natural retreat
The suites continue this relationship with the landscape, combining warm timber, bamboo details and traditional Balinese influences with spaces designed for rest and contemplation. Large terraces open towards the gardens and Ayung River, while natural materials and carefully selected furniture and soft furnishings create a relaxed, understated character. The interiors allow the setting to take centre stage, creating private sanctuaries that feel calm, tactile and authentically rooted in Bali.
Spaces for healing
Wellness is woven throughout the property, with dedicated spaces created for healing, movement and reflection. Yoga salas constructed from bamboo and traditional alang-alang thatch sit alongside treatment and healing spaces, pools and areas for meditation and ritual. Rather than feeling like separate facilities, these spaces form part of a wider journey through the retreat, using natural materials, water, landscape and open-air living to create an atmosphere of tranquillity.
