Fresh tone of voice
FIG was appointed on this re-positioning project to give the hotel a fresh tone of voice and attract a new guest target group. We were inspired by the new vision and proud to be invited to re-design the interior of the lobby, reception, cafe, restaurant and lounge, to increase the success of the hotel and it’s F&B offerings.
Wake up to the wonder of Amsterdam
The hotel is a 4-star getaway for those who want to enjoy the spectacular views of the river and the Olympic Stadium.
Across a canal from the Olympic Stadium, this polished hotel is 3 km from the Van Gogh Museum and 4 km from the RijksmuseumThe guests are not only sports people but also leisure and business travellers.
Iconic Dutch designers & local sourced vintage furniture
We sourced vintage furniture throughout the project, to ‘cosy’ up the spaces, to be more local and more sustainable, using iconic Dutch designers as much as possible.
Contemporary feel
We introduced plywood into the scheme for it’s contemporary feel and because it was a very cost effective. We have a fantastic joiner in the Netherlands who did a wonderful job at book matching the grains in the pine.
We applied the plywood in a number of places to create a language and connect the various areas of the hotel: behind the main reception, at the main entrance wall, as room dividers in the restaurant, and as panelled louvres in the lounge area.
Spectacular views
To define the lounge area, which previously had a very industrial, cold ceiling, we created circular cones that were to continue the geometric theme but in 3 dimension. The paper cones were also a cost effective and sustainable solution that give a very interesting texture to the space.
