A monochromatic serenity lets the infinite blue inside
This summer villa is located in Kalkan, which is perched on the seaside of Kaş in southwest of Turkey. The area is surrounded by famous beaches, sea views, natural treasures and also by ancient cities like Letoon, Xantos and Simena.
As a famous historian Heredot said about Kalkan: “The closest place to the stars on earth!” We were blessed with a piece of land that the client wanted to develop into a contemporary holiday villa, focusing on the incredible views and the sense of deep peace that you can feel in this unique place.
The architecture needed to be simple, linear and minimal yet blend into the landscape and other residential houses surrounding the site.
A vision of natural beauty
The building site is on the side of a foothill and has full unobstructed vision into the landscape – one of the best views in the city. The architecture framed the views so that internally you can feel the breathtaking impact of the water, while externally the clean lines of the structure compliment the views, with natural stones and wood blending into the landscape.
Unique style villa
The villa is large, encompassing 220m2 internally, with the addition of five large terraces totalling 100m2. The wide terraces surrounding the exterior are inviting the magnificent views to be a part of the owner’s daily life.
The windows are all full height and the shading consists of horizontal metal blinds which also break up the solid forms and planes of the external walls, reminiscent of the style of the famous Mies Van der Roe.
Endless blue sea views
The large 50-metre long swimming pool begins from inside of the first floor and continues along the length of the building with an infinity edge. Every room has a sea view and the construction of the villa is designed so its horizontal emphasis creates the largest views possible of the endless blue sea.
Our client has allowed us to create their dream holiday villa. The next stage will be to design the interiors and bring a holistic solution to the most incredible brief we have had in this part of the world!
