Great English Porcelain
The influence of Chinese porcelain on English ceramics was profound, generating extensive imitation and inspiration in the ‘delftware’ industry in London. Made in small factories started by private enterprises most of the key factories were situated on or close to the River Thames around Fulham.
John Dwight was known to have started the Fulham Pottery Company and was known as one of the first of distinguished potters in the country. We have referenced some of his pieces and pieces inspired by him. We took inspiration from, colour and pattern. John Dwight was a quirky man himself that broke the mould of traditional pottery.
Breaking the Mould
Boutique & British
As well as taking in influence from the pottery, the design is picking up on ‘Britishness’ and would like to bring in British furniture designers and British pottery which can extend into the table-wear used in the rooms and also down to the bed linen. This leads on from the ‘Industry of the River’ – we can work with river based artists.
