The 4 Seasons of Gstaad
The concept draws inspiration from the four seasons of the Alps, creating a hotel experience that evolves throughout the year while remaining deeply connected to nature. Each area of the hotel reflects the atmosphere and emotion of a different season, offering guests a distinct yet harmonious journey through the property. The entrance, restaurant and bar embrace the warmth and richness of Autumn, creating an inviting arrival experience through layered textures and earthy tones. Winter is expressed within the spa, where soft whites and muted palettes evoke serenity, calmness and the quiet beauty of snow-covered landscapes. The guestrooms and apartments take inspiration from Spring and Summer, introducing fresher green tones, natural light and a softer palette intended to feel both restorative and uplifting. Throughout the hotel, the design emphasises natural materials and the authentic beauty of raw finishes, interpreted in a refined and contemporary way.
Retro Aesthetic
To give the hotel a unique identity within the region, the design also draws subtle inspiration from the historic Gstaad–Montreux railway line and the romantic character of early Alpine travel. Referencing the charm and craftsmanship of the original 1904 train interiors, the concept reinterprets elements such as timber ceiling panelling, vintage-style lighting and the intimate, cosy atmosphere associated with classic rail journeys. These details are introduced with a contemporary sensibility, creating a layered aesthetic that feels both nostalgic and modern. By connecting the project to an important part of Gstaad’s cultural and tourism history, the design adds a meaningful narrative that enhances the overall guest experience while distinguishing the hotel from more conventional Alpine destinations.
